The following frames are extracted from a different series of photographs which I called "Never Grey Paris!" (Paris in Winter), "Ciao Paris!" (Hello Paris!), "The Streets of Paris", etc.

What is common to Rome, Paris and London? These are three big western millenarian cities, founded by the ancient Romans around at the ford on a river.

Historically, nothing mysterious, most of the great world cities were born in a place of commercial exchange, passage or encounter: a ford, a port on the sea, a river port, a military camp, a fortress, a place of religious worship, etc.
